Directed by Ann Ciccolella (Chronicle Feature on Ann)

Austin Shakespeare's Director Ann Ciccolella burnishes the nobility in Macbeth to make his tragedy more powerful. In this fresh production, Austin's best actors and designers re-imagine this masterwork of language in a contemporary, global context. Starring Marc Pouhe as Macbeth, and returning to the Austin area from a successful New York career, Sharron Bower as Lady Macbeth, with special guest mezzo-soprano Cindy Sadler as Hecate. (see the full cast list)

Macbeth is enlivened by Michael McKelvey's original music echoing Britten, Stravinsky and Hitchcock's "Psycho" soundtrack, set and costumes by Texas State University Design & Technology Department Head Michelle Ney, and the lighting design of the award-winning Jason Amato.
